Dear Bruce,
I will present a rough
list, starting from what I know, moving to my aunt's research papers as I go
back.
I think there is a lot
for you to look at here. I stumbled to a halt at the end when I found records
of two different lists of children for
James Alex McAdam and Elizabeth Bothwell. I think the truth may be a blend of
the two, as my aunt was probably working from a variety of sources and filled
in genealogy forms at different times. I wonder about Samuel though - did he
marry when he was 13? Did he have two wives?
She really did a fantastic
amount of research, not only on the McAdam's and McKenzie's (her parents) but
on their family trees. There is a lot more detail on children of these various people. If you find a link between your
Samuel and mine, and provide a snail mail address, I can copy the relevant her
pages and mail them.
I have some photos
from a family reunion in 1995. I could scan them when I am back at work next
week and put them up on our website. My sister and aunt and a cousin (Dorothy's
oldest) are very similar, and I saw that same body build and colouring in
pictures Willis took on a trip to visit nephews in Montebello in the early
1990s. My children were quite struck by the resemblance too - red hair, blue
eyes and freckles being the common thread.

Grandfather's name was Howard N. McAdam. He was born in Brownsburg, Quebec on
March 16th, 1897. His Father was John McAdam but as for the date of his marrage
to Sarah Nichols, I don't think that will help you out.

David also had 2

William Ross Mcadam
(CPR Railroad Engineer) had 2 brothers who also
lived in Chapleau
& worked for the CPR - James Mcadam and Jack (or John)
Mcadam. He also had
sisters - (IDA married Archie McKinnon), (Elizabeth
married Mr. Girling),
Sarah & Ella (or Ellen) both were married to James
Obrien at different
times(1 of them passed away then the other sister
married him)

(born 1873)
I am trying to find any
info I can regarding my Grandfather (my Mother's Father), William Ross McAdam.
He lived in Chapleau, Ontario, Canada.
I have a letter which my Mother had (from Grand Lodge of Ontario
I.O.O.F.) stating that he was admitted into Missanabie Lodge #266, Chapleau on
March 20, 1894 at the age of 21 yrs.
He & his wife (I
am working on getting her name from my sister (perhaps Ruth?) had a number of
children - among them Percy R., Dave C. McAdam, Lyle McAdam, Beulah, etc..
William was an
Engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Percy R., his son was Manager of
Ontario Hydro at Sudbury, Ontario.
There is a photo at

retirement dinner for
the CPR at Chapleau. (face not clear but I have
others - 1 attached)

brothers...Perce (sp?) McAdam, who Managed the Sudbury Hydro for years died
approx. 1972, Lyle McAdam, Bill McAdam, etc.
One of her brothers was a Railway Engineer with the CPR.
Any info would be
appreciated! I am hoping to learn more about my Genealogy. Perhaps there is a relation
to this McAdam family? I do know that there were Scottish roots there.
