Ancestors of Mary Ellen Keech:

Veterans of the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812

Generation No. 1

      1.  Mary Ellen Keech, born December 8, 1869 in Enterprise, Ontario; died December 6, 1954 in Kingston, Ontario.  She was the daughter of 2. Henry R. Keech and 3. Mary U. McMullen.  She married (1) James Watson McAdam April 20, 1890 in Tamworth, Ontario (Norway Lake).  He was born January 15, 1859 in Hastings County, Ontario, and died September 1, 1930 in Sacketts Harbor, New York.  He was the son of Samuel McAdam II and Eliza Jane Brown.

Notes for Mary Ellen Keech:

According to Milton Bruce McAdam, Sr., in 1954, Mary Ellen (Keech) McAdam was living with her daughter Florence (McAdam) Kimmett in Sacketts Harbor, Jefferson County, NY (although she may have been staying with her other daughter, Angeline (McAdam) Froysell, a few miles away in Chaumont, New York).  Apparently, Mary Ellen became very ill in the Summer or early Autumn from causes he can't recall.  Because Mary Ellen was still a Canadian citizen and had family in the Kingston area, she was moved to a Kingston hospital where she qualified for insurance. Bruce and his Uncle, Bob Froysell, took Mary Ellen by car to the Kingston hospital in the Fall sometime.  It was pleasant weather when they went.  Mary Ellen died on December 6, 1954 and was brought back to the Sacketts Harbor Cemetery where her husband was buried.

Notes for James Watson McAdam:

James Watson McAdam was born January 15, 1859 in Hastings County.  His first wife, Rebecca Doolan, bore him two children, Agnes (Mrs. George Wagar) and John Henry.  These two children were born at the homestead at Norway Lake.  Rebecca died sometime before 1890, and Watson married Mary Ellen Keech.  In the early 1900's, they took up sheep farming on the Marlbank Road, four miles southwest of Erinsville.  Mary Ellen bore him five more children; Norah, James Wesley, Annie, Florence and Angeline.  In 1923, Watson moved to the Watertown, New York area.  He died there in August 1930.
